Over 40 keen youngsters took to the streets of Pengegon, on Saturday, to help the new street wardens clean up the area.

The children, along with adult volunteers and the Streets Ahead team, filled two skips with rubbish.

Environmental Support Works co-ordinator for the project James Hills said: "We filled the skips with old televisions, car parts, bicycle frames and general fly-tipping household rubbish."

The team of three patrol wardens and three neighbourhood support workers will be out again on Saturday, cleaning up Higher Broad Lane, in Illogan.

Volunteers are asked to lend a helping hand, and will be provided with protective clothing and all the necessary tools.

Anyone who is able to help should meet at the Community Centre, in Chywoone Gardens, at 10am.

More information on the clean-up or about the Streets Ahead Project is available from the wardens on 01209 219616.
