Bridgwater Cricket Club have appointed former Somerset and Derbyshire player, Jason Kerr as director of coaching to spearhead their West of England Premier League promotion bid in the coming season.
He succeeds Ben Wellington, who did the job last year, but resigned in early February because of his commitments as a full-time coach at Somerset's Centre of Excellence.
Lancastrian Kerr, who left Somerset after 12 years in 2001 and has spent the last two years in Derbyshire, has had to retire from first-class cricket because of a back problem which makes bowling difficult - he was an all-rounder with both counties.
