MEMBERS of Helston St John Ambulance looked back on another busy year at their annual presentation evening last week.

Visiting officers inspected personnel and presented awards to members of the division's badger, cadet and adult sections. The evening also included a short play about the history of St John presented by the badgers.

Flora Badger leader Justine Neal said the youngsters had worked extremely hard during the year, completing various subject badges and taking part in several community events.

The award for the Best Boy Badger went to Daniel Chinn, who had attended every single St John event over the preceding 12 months, and the award for the Best Girl Badger to Kea Wheat, who had only missed one Badger meeting since joining up just over a year ago.

Badger of the Year was Owen Bennett, while Super Badger awards went to Connor Rankin and Cameron Rankin.

Cameron was also presented with his three-year badge, while two-year badges went to Ashley Chinn, Owen Bennett and Leah Rollett, and one-year badges to Daniel Palmer, Daniel Chinn, Cameron Newman and Kea Wheat.

Tiegan Wheat and Jordanne Bruce were enrolled into the Badgers.

Several Helston St John Cadets were rewarded for outstanding service over the past 12 months, while adults Michael Lander and Pam Danning also received awards for their work for the division.

A special tribute was paid to former Helston superintendent Theresa Neal, who retired from the division earlier this year after almost 40 years service with St John.

Mrs Neal was unable to attend the presentation evening but she has been presented with a gift in recognition of all her hard work on behalf of the brigade.
