MORE than 200 people were left stranded at Dawlish after violent storms caused two trains to break down on the main line from Exeter to Plymouth.
Yesterday afternoon waves crashed onto the train line, causing the engines to fail on a train travelling from York to Plymouth at around 4.35pm.
Later at 10.05pm, the Glasgow to Penzance train ground to a halt between Dawlish and Teignmouth after transmissions failed.
