REAL ale connoisseurs drank Falmouth Beer Festival dry in just two days.

Eight thousand pints were not enough for the thirsty crowds who flocked to the event run by the Cornwall branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA Kernow) at the Princess Pavilion last Friday and Saturday.

At precisely 9.13 on Saturday evening the last pint was served, making the event the most successful ever. Branch press officer Fran Brennan said: "We were overwhelmed. We couldn't believe the speed which the beer was drunk this year."

The festival was scheduled to continue on Sunday from 12 until 3 o'clock but because of the lack of beer that had to be cancelled.
