THE team running Bathealton Village Hall has been praised by rural watchdogs.
The Community Council for Somerset was so impressed when it carried out an inspection of the hall that it has singled it out for mention in the roll of honour.
The announcement came at the annual village and community halls conference held at Long Sutton last Saturday.
More than 80 hall committee members from all over Somerset attended the event and were encouraged to open up their halls to the community by establishing it as a market, lunch club, post office or business meeting venue.
Bathealton, North Curry, Otterford, Staplegrove and Trull attained a Hallmark One award for reaching the standard for charity, administration and management regulations.
The team at Bathealton got a special mention for their dedication and enthusiasm against all the odds.
