THE National Blood Service urges Minehead residents to save lives by giving blood this week.
Donations can be made at St John Ambulance Headquarters in North Road, Minehead, from 1.30pm-3.15pm and from 5pm-7.15pm on Monday (November 1) and at the same times the next day.
Research by the NBS shows only 6 per cent of the population currently gives blood when 9,000 units of blood are needed every day to treat illnesses such as cancer and leukaemia.
