THIS was the scene when scores of gypsies took over a six-acre field in North Curry.
They towed on caravans, moved in generators and brought in lorry loads of gravel and stone to build makeshift roads.
Julia Tibbs and Hilary Harris own a cottage next to the field and Mrs Tibbs said: "Our lives have been turned upside down."
Now the first stage in the eviction process is set to start today (Friday).
