WEST Ham United manager Alan Pardew was among the crowd at Huish Park on Tuesday to watch Yeovil Town in FA Cup action against Darlington.

Why Pardew was there is not clear, but one would assume that he was taking the opportunity to check out the progress of Yeovil's highly-rated young keeper Chris Weale who spent a time with the Hammers last season training.

But there was mounting speculation this week that Pardew was casting his eye over Gavin Williams - arguably the jewel in the crown of Yeovil's playing personnel.

Williams has not been playing, to be fair, to his full potential in recent weeks, but he came back to form in the second-half of Yeovil's 1-0 FA Cup success over Darlington on Tuesday.

He produced some of his typical mazy runs where he appears to glide across the pitch and pass opponents with competent ease.

Williams was at the centre of much transfer speculation at the end of last season with Doncaster Rovers and Hull City both vying for his services.

But the popular Welshman pledged his future to the Glovers.
