THERE was a bevy of not so beautiful babes at the Pool School and Community College Miss World competition in aid of Children in Need on Friday.
Fortunately those in the competition did not hope to take up the challenge seriously as they were all male members of staff strutting their stuff for their highly amused pupils.
The show included a walk along the catwalk and the inevitable interview for their opinion on world peace with headteacher Zelma Hill.
The eventual winner was assistant headteacher Leighton Tellem with deputy head Jeremy Rowe runner up as Miss Conception,
The stunt raised £201 for Children in Need with the children paying 50 pence for the privilege of seeing their teachers looking ridiculous.
Children and staff at Treloweth School in Higher Broadlane, Redruth, raised £279.30 for Children in Need when pupils and staff dressed up in all the colours of the rainbow and the early years class made Pudsey scarves out of paper and sold them for 50 pence each.
