St Stythians Youth Band went to this year's South West Brass Band Association Championships at Torquay for the first time and won the junior section. The band, currently comprising of 18 players, performed the test piece The Young In Heart, composed by Eric Ball.
Ken Tresidder, the band's conductor, was elated with the result as it was his first time conducting the musicians at a major contest.
The St Stythians Youth Band is very keen to build on its competition success and welcomes new players to join its numbers.
