Detectives investigating the murder of Peter Solheim, a former Budock parish councillor, have this week searched two local beaches.

Officers from the Tactical Aid Group undertook the searches at Porthbeor Beach near St Mawes and Porthoustock Beach, near St Keverne to search for evidence in connection with the death of Mr Solheim.

A Royal Navy minesweeper has already been involved in the search and now satellite imaging is to be used.

Mr Solheim's body was found on the June 18 in the sea eight miles from the Lizard.

Officers working from Falmouth Police station are still keen to hear from anyone who may have information regarding the case, especially with regard to how and where Mr Solheim was taken to sea and by whom.

Mr Solheim's small dinghy named the "Izzwizz" was found drifting at Mylor Harbour early in the morning of Thursday, 17 June. Officers are appealing for anyone to come forward with regard to any sightings of this boat on the afternoon/evening of Wednesday, 16 June, either around the coast at Falmouth or when it returned to Mylor yacht harbour later that day or early the following morning.

Detective Inspector Neil Best, from the murder inquiry,said: "We are still actively investigating this case and have this week search the two new locations which we may believe may be key in the attack on Mr. Solheim and his removal by boat to sea."

A 56-year-old woman from the Lizard area was arrested in connection with Mr Solheim's murder in July and remains on Police bail.
