IN an effort to improve and attract more dinghies to Falmouth Week 2005, POFSA is planning to organise a series within Falmouth Week to be called Falmouth Dinghy Week (FDW).
A specialist race team from the nationally successful dinghy club Restronguet Sailing Club will take on the running of the dinghy sailing and provide racing in the Northbank area of the harbour in late morning early afternoon from Sunday to Friday.
The improvements envisaged are two races for some classes run under the command of a National Race officer and an experienced and professional team.
Marks will be laid using all the latest navigational aids and true windward/leeward courses laid for those that demand it.
It is intended developing this event over the years to attract dinghy sailors who want well organised racing which doesn't take all day and at the same time enjoy a family holiday in this part of the country.
Falmouth offers some of the finest sailing waters and Cornwall is well supplied with other attractions for the family.
