WENDRON 2 HOLMANS 2

WITH the wind blowing down the hill, this was the classic game of two halves, but this Jolly's Combination League clash ended with a last gasp equaliser by the visitors to snatch a point.

With the wind at their backs, Holmans dominated the first half but failed to turn possession into goals. Chances were far and few between until 25 minutes when Holmans striker Luke Healan cut in from the left, using his strength to beat two defenders, before unleashing an unstoppable drive from 22 yards into the top corner of the net.

Holmans created several half-chances, but could not add to their one goal lead.

The second half was a different story as Wendron dominated proceedings and opened their account within seven minutes when Neil Philpott showed his strength to break into the area before sliding his low shot into the far corner of the net.

Ten minutes later Wendron took the lead as a long ball down the middle caught out the visitors' defence and Simon Williamson coolly lobbed the onrushing 'keeper.
