BRIXHAM 11pts CAMBORNE 7pts

Camborne remain in joint second spot in South West Two despite this disappointing away reverse in South Devon.

Travelling as selected, the Cherry Whites made a lively start and went ahead inside the first ten minutes. Following a penalty kicked to the corner the visitors moved the ball infield before centre Adrian Downing's half break broke the defence leaving full back Todd Blythe a five metre run in for his 11th try of the season.

Fly half David Mankee converted for a 7-0 lead.

The home side hit back in the 14th minute with a penalty from the boot of fly half Matthew Counter.

Two minutes later the deficit was reduced to only one point when Counter saw a long range drop goal attempt bounce on the crossbar on its way over.

Despite these setbacks, Camborne responded and midway through the half Blythe was hauled down only yards from scoring a second try. From the resulting scrum, Brixham were penalised, but Mankee fired wide.

Right wing Kelvin Smitham was next to go close for Town and was tackled into touch on the goal-line after a flowing handling movement. Soon after replacement prop Scott Sara was nearly over.

The half time whistle arrived with the score at 7-6 to Camborne and the large contingent of visiting supporters expected their team to pull clear in the second period.
