TRURO 16pts CONEY HILL 15pts

TRURO'S clash with second placed Coney Hill only attracted a small crowd to St Clements Hill, possibly due to international games on television and the persistent drizzly rain. Truro played with the wind in the first half, towards the training pitch, and dominated early proceedings leading to two penalty attempts by fly half Scott Martin.

Although close with his first attempt from 40 yards, he converted his second.

Truro began to dominate most phases of play, but in particular the lineouts through Richard Tucker and Martin Caren.

Martin added a further penalty after 20 minutes to extend Truro's lead after which (6-0). he penned his opponent's backs in their own half with some intelligent kicking from hand.

Two minutes before half time a poor clearance out of defence by Truro led to Coney Hill running the ball back to score in the left hand corner through full back N Codlin, but the conversion attempt was missed.

At half time Truro led only 6-5, but were much better value than the scoreline suggests.
