PICTURESQUE locations around the Helston and Lizard area provided the perfect backdrop for a Cornish language film being created by an enterprising duo from Perranporth, with the help of students from Falmouth and Penryn.
Fran Broadhurst, 24, and Mathy Tremewan, 21, are co-directing "De Sul" - Cornish for "Sunday" - thanks to a £5,000 prize the talented pair claimed after pitching their script idea at last year's Cornwall Film Festival.
The hectic five-day shoot took the co-directors, a cast of 12 and a crew of 20, to locations including Gunwalloe, Trelowarren, Cadgwith and Helston.
Set in the early 1900s, "De Sul" tells the story of a small poverty-stricken fishing community whose members are tempted to abandon years of tradition when a huge shoal of pilchards arrives in their bay on a Sunday - the day of rest. They eventually decide to catch the fish, but with one rule put aside, other aspects of community life also start to break down.
