NEARLY 300 homes are to be built on the outskirts of Wellington after planning permission was granted this week.
Despite concerns from many people in the town, councillors on Taunton Deane Council's planning committee granted outline planning permission for 295 homes at Cades Farm, Taunton Road, by Westbury Homes Holdings and Heron Land Developments.
However, they also added conditions to the permission, which included 35% affordable housing, contributions tow-ards secondary school provision, a contribution of nearly £230,000 to improve playing fields in the town, £180,000 for sports facilities, and £250,000 for community facilities.
