WHEELIE bins have landed in Chard - and Ilminster is set to follow soon.
Delivery of the new wheeled bins and food waste caddies has started, and the first collections take place next week.
The scheme, which will soon include all but a few peripheral streets in Chard, aims to increase recycling levels and has proven successful in earlier phases based in and around Yeovil.
But, as reported by the News, the wheelie bins have not been welcomed in all quarters in Chard, with many saying they are an eyesore and will be difficult to manoeuvre.
Cerdic Close resident David Williams, of Chuckleprint, was among the first to get the new bins.
He said: "I think it's an excellent idea but I feel sorry for those people who have to take them through their houses."
