POLICE have launched a criminal investigation after a horrific multi-vehicle pile-up on the Penryn by-pass left one man dead and six people seriously injured. A dog also died.
Emergency services were called to the Penryn by-pass at around 11.20am on Friday morning after receiving frantic 999 calls from members of the public. When they arrived they were greeted by a scene of utter devastation.
Three cars, a mini-bus and a camper van were strewn across all three carriageways, the lay-by and onto the grass verges.
A red Volvo V40 driven by a couple from Gloucester was left unrecognisable following the crash.
