THE Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club hosted the second round of the ACU Youth National Championship at Truthan Farm, St Erme under bright blue skies when 60 riders from as far afield as Yorkshire and Kent competed in a 48 race programme which enabled local riders to test their abilities against the best in the UK.

On Sunday the Cornwall Solo Grass Track Club hosted the fourth round of the club championships at Truthan Farm, St Erme.

In the Solos Adrian Rowe was unbeaten in the 500s, Experts and Open classes after a number of close races with Jason Prynne early in the meeting before Prynne was forced to retire from the meeting through illness. The highlight being the 500 final when the pair swapped places several times through the four lap race.

Paul Bray claimed third in the 500's final, first in the Invitation and second in the Restricted behind Andrew Cocker who later claimed third in the open final. A big crash in the open heat for Bray resulted in him being airlifted to hospital for precautionary checks but was later released.

Steve Pearce won the 350s ahead of Ian Parsons and Mike Bowden won both heats of the Pre 75s and took second in the open final.

The sidecar competitors found the shorter than usual track to their liking with close action and plenty of passing throughout the day. Jim Pearn and Paul Uglow from Devon claimed the junior class ahead of local crews Steven Palmer/Shaun Hoskin and Joseph Sturtridge/Steven Sturtridge.

Clive Stoneman/Roland Broomfield were the class of the field winning all four heats and both open finals. Other heat winners were Joseph Sturtridge/Steven Sturtridge and Lee Hicks/Phil Collyer in the first open and Wayne Westaway/Mark Courtney and Jim Pearn/Paul Uglow in the Second Open.
