Kernow Events - the organisers for this year's evening entertainment schedule for Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week - has announced a spectacular 11-night programme on the Events Square between August 4 and 14.

Falmouth Week is the second largest nautical event in the UK - rivalled only by Cowes Week.

Graham Bradshaw from the Falmouth based company said: "We have endeavoured to provide a varied programme of entertainment from rock to pop and jazz to opera, in the hope that everyone will be able to join in the festivities, in keeping with this year's strapline - 'Be Part Of It'."

Pop star Lucie Silvas, whose latest CD, Breathe In, has recently sold in double platinum quantities, will be one of the key attractions. Lucie will be perfoming on Thursday, August 11, with support from acclaimed Cornish band, Even Nine.

There will be a Family Barn Dance on Thursday, August 4, and Jazz on the Square on Friday, August 5, with internationally-renowned songstress Elaine Delmar supported by four of the top jazz musicians in the business.

Saturday focuses on homegrown talent with Wire Daisies who have recently enjoyed supporting megaband Queen, yoU2, a vibrant U2 tribute band and comedian/compre, Ben Murphy. On Sunday the event organisers call for "Trelawney's Army" to join them for a free evening with the Treverva Male Voice Choir and the St Keverne Youth Band.

"Our ambition is for 1,000 Cornish voices to join in a good, old-fashioned sing song," said Mr Bradshaw.

Party nights include a Soul Night on Monday with the ever-popular Soul Survivors and BBC Radio Cornwall's David White Band. Boogienation and ITV's Stars in Your Eyes winner Jay Washington provide the 70s night line up on Tuesday. Wednesday features a performance by the UK's official Glenn Miller Orchestra, conducted by Ray McVay. The Newquay Jive Club will be on hand for expert tuition - should you need it!

Friday's Totally 80s night featuring Once More into the Bleach - the UK's only Blondie tribute to be officially endorsed by Debbie Harry - who will be supported by Falmouth's own Frontcover.

Saturday sees the Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week 2005 Grand Carnival take to the streets and the square takes on a Caribbean theme with So Kaiso providing reggae and calypso music, supported by Funk Connection.

The Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week 2005 festivities conclude on Sunday, August 14, with a Last Night of the Proms event performed by Cornish Sinfonia with guest soprano, Suzanne Manuell.

Graham added: "Each night there will be bands performing from 8pm - so doors open earlier as there is much more to see this year. There is a limited number of tickets available for each evening - so book early to avoid disappointment. If you book a weekly ticket before July 7, you can enjoy savings of up to 20% on the weekly ticket price."

Falmouth town centre manager and chairman of the Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week 2005 Shoreside Committee, Peter Rugg said: "We hope that this very varied programme of events will appeal to the widest possible audience, whatever your age or musical taste."
