Young Falmouth all-rounder Antony Angove made his full county debut for Cornwall on Monday at the age of 16 years and 169 days.
He was included in the starting line up for Cornwall's Minor Counties Championship against Cheshire at Alderley Edge.
Angove has impressed through the years at Cornwall Schools level and represented the West of England Under 15 team in 2004. He bowled eight overs on Monday conceding 28 runs in Cheshire's first innings. Cornwall enjoyed a good opening day, in hot conditions. The home team were bowled out for 240 in 79 overs with former England and Lancashire player Chris Scholfield making 85.
There was a fine spell of bowling by Mark George who took a county career best of 5 for 70 from 25 overs. He was backed up by his brother Nick who took 3 for 46.
Karl Turner (Beacon) held three catches behind the stumps on his debut.
In the 31 overs remaining before the close Cornwall got over the early loss of Martin Pearce to end on 96 for 1 with David Roberts hitting an unbeaten half century.
