AFTER a break of many years, RNAS Culdrose have been admitted back into the Whirlwind Sports Falmouth-Helston League after clubs voted for their inclusion at the league's annual general meeting on Wednesday evening..

The meeting, held at Wendron, was extremely well attended with president Bruce Taylor his usual efficient self in keeping proceedings ticking over at a brisk pace.

The clubs also decided to admit Camborne Park and after several years of trying, Frogpool/Cusgarne. Praze Res and Porthleven Rangers were both re-elected, but Marazion, who have had a difficult time in recent years, surprisingly failed to gain sufficient support.

The other clubs who failed to get elected were Four Lanes, Gerrans, St Agnes, and Wendron.

It was also confirmed that Porthleven have been relegated to division one and Perranporth promoted to the Jolly's Combination League in their place.

In his report, league secretary Mr Gerald Sobey, who had only got out of his sickbed in the late afternoon, said that he felt it was the best year ever for the league with the division one title not decided until the final Saturday of the season. The league was a credit to Cornish football, added Mr Sobey.

He also added that the league had been sounded out about being joined by the Mining Division Football League, but that was an issue for another day.

He reminded clubs of the need to pay attention to submitting teamsheets and results by the specified time and thanked David Sobey for his work with the teamsheets, a huge task that took hours each week.
