BRIAN Rose, Somerset's new director of cricket, wasted no time in making his presence felt at the club, this week announcing the termination of Nixon McLean's contract.
The decision was made due to concerns over the West Indian fast bowler's fitness.
Just five days after his appointment was made public, Rose, who captained the county during their glory years said: "Regretfully, continuing fitness problems have affected Nixon's ability to perform on the field and the uncertainty of whether this situation would improve has led the club to make this decision."
