DONYATT Ladies lost by 21 shots away to Minehead in the Optika competition last Wednesday.
The match consisted of three formats – pairs, triples and fours and to go through to the next round a team to do so must win on at least two of the three rinks.
And it was Minehead who won on all three rinks.
Donyatt scores: Pairs – Jean Jones, Anne Rowe lost 18-25.
Triples – Brenda Raistrick, Mary Spurway, Pauline Wiseman lost 14-20. Fours – Marina Gardner, Beryl Whitfield, Jill Humphries, Carole Parsons lost 13-21.
Donyatt played a mixed friendly match against neighbours Merriott on Saturday.
Donyatt won on three of the four rinks and by 23 shots overall.
The game was played in the best of spirit and enjoyed by all.

Donyatt men were beaten by Minehead in a Double Rink match on Saturday.
Donyatt’s home rink won quite easily but the away rink lost by more shots than the home rink won by so Minhead won on the day.
■ CHARD short mat bowlers returned to action after Christmas and the bad weather.
In the East Devon League Chard B defeated Chard A.
Milford and Dormor Triples League: Teams – Albatross 13.
