ILMINSTER ended their season with a seven-wicket defeat at home to Warminster on Saturday.

The loss was Ilminster’s tenth of the season in the league and saw them finish third from bottom in the table.

The hosts were asked to bat first and reached 42 before losing their first wicket, that of skipper Sam Spurway for 31.

Josh House soon followed for eight, before a third-wicket stand of 87 between Rayner Blitz and Craig Rice saw the team to 140.

Rice fell for 35 but Blitz kept going and finished 69 not out as the side closed on 179- 3 from their 50 overs. Matt Burfield was unbeaten on 14 at the end.

In reply, the visitors were always well up with the rate and needed just 37.5 overs to reach their target, having lost only three wickets – Sean Adams led the way for the visitors with 72 not out.

Ilminster gave eight bowlers the chance to turn their arms over, with Adam Cox, Steve Hurford and Craig Rice taking the wickets.
