The Midday Dance at Helston Flora Day lived up to its reputation. The dresses worn by the women were better than those worn on ladies day at Ascot and the men were replendent in their top hats and tails.

The enthusiastic crowd by which time had increased to several thousands, watched as the dancers left the Guildhall on the stroke of noon.

It was to be long hot dance and the welcome break in the grounds of Lismore was much appreciated.

By the time the dance had finished the town band had walked the route three times knowing they had one more session, the evening dance at 5pm.
