ROBERT Stafford was the winner of last weekend’s Stableford at Enmore Park Golf Club with 41 points.

However, countback came into play to sort out the places when three players returned with 40 points, after which it was Johna Alderton who was second, Richard Heal was third and Simon Kellaway fourth.

A total of 27 Enmore Park Seniors travelled to Dainton Park Golf Club in Devon last week to play in the Senior Captains Away Day.

John Earp, the 2022 Seniors' Captain organised the day, which after the traditional bacon bap and coffee, was followed by a round of golf. The day ended with a two-course carvery meal during which the prizes for the day were awarded.

Despite very heavy rain during the drive to Dainton, the “weather gods” were on the visiting golfers' side, delivering dry and bright playing conditions on a course which itself was in very good condition.

Two trophies were played for during the away day; the Paterson Shield, a team prize won on the basis of the best three recorded scores from a team of four players, plus the King Cup which is for the best individual score on the day.

The Paterson Shield was won by John Newell, Les Dewdney, Chris Willsteed and John Marchant, while the King Cup was won by David Holden.

The individual competition saw Jess Lawrence claim second place while it was Jeff Saunders who was third.

Prizes were also presented for Nearest the Pin, Jeff Saunders (Hole 2), Colin Scobie (Hole 9) and Carl Netto (Hole 15) and for Twos, John Payne (Hole 4) and Carl Netto (Hole 15).

This was another very successful day made possible by golf played in a great spirit, on a course in very good condition, and concluded by excellent food and great service at Dainton Park.
