Cllr Toni Fagan is to be congratulated on practising what she preaches, riding a bicycle in Hereford (Letters, September 17).

If she is sufficiently brave, I should like to suggest that when next she cycles across Skylon Bridge, she takes a short detour and rides up Vineyard Road and down Hafod Road.

Then, if she does not buckle a wheel, let me know whether she thinks the road surface is safe.

If she does fall off, she will have the advantage of being able to examine at close quarters the fascinating strata in the potholes which provide an illustration of the development of road building over the last 70 years.

She might also wish to let me know why on earth we are having to pay council tax for a service that we have not received under either this council or its deplorable predecessor.
