A pensioner who had her handbag containing £300 cash stolen from her in a Helston supermarket has had it replaced by a local charity - only for the thieves to go on and steal a further £450 from her account.

Now the Sparkle Foundation is hoping people will get behind 81-year-old Jackie and help replace the remaining money through a Go Fund Me appeal that has been set up.

Leigh Yates, founder of the the charity, said: "Jackie’s bag contained £300 cash, her car repair money, her bank card, which the thieves then used to take another £450.

"As she had her pin in her bag, the bank would not reimburse her.

"Jackie is distraught, frightened and distressed."

The Sparkle Foundation, set up to help people and good causes in the community who might not otherwise be supported by other charities, has given her

£300 and now hopes the community and the charity's friends will help it raise another £450 to cover what was subsequently stolen.

Leigh added: "Jackie is worried people think she can’t cope, but having met her today she is a wonderful, formidable woman with a beautiful heart.

"Please help us restore this darling lady's faith in humanity by raising £450 and show her people care."
