CCTV footage shows the moment a man brazenly launches what looks like a brick through the window of a bar before entering the premise and stealing money from the tills.

The burglary was captured on camera just before 2am on Saturday September 19 at the Barrowford Lounge in Gisburn Road, Barrowford.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Owner of the bar, Dean Boyle, said around £1,400 in cash was stolen as well as damage to a rear window which then needed repairing.

Mr Boyle, who has only owned the bar since February this year said he shared the footage with the police after neighbours called 999 upon hearing the alarm sounding.

He said: "We had only just closed the bar, at 1am, but to be honest he was spotted loitering around outside the front, walking up and down the terrace about 20 minutes before we closed."

Lancashire Telegraph:

One piece of CCTV footage appears to show the man enter the front terrace, which opens onto the main road, before peering through the windows and then walking away.

"He put a brick through the window at the back and then came in through there," continued Mr Boyle, "from the cameras it looks like it only took him three minutes to get the cash from the tills - he was in and out that quick."

Lancashire Telegraph:

Mr Boyle, who lives in Colne, said in terms of business, the bar itself had not been making a profit due to lockdown and the current restrictions, and having a night's takings stolen only added to the problem.

He said: "I haven't paid myself a wage since we opened, I'm lucky I have another business but this just makes things harder for us."

Lancashire Telegraph:

So far, no arrests have been made but Mr Boyle said he would be grateful if anyone with any information could contact the police.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called to a commercial premise on Gisburn Road in Barrowford at 2.05am on September 19.

"We received reports of a break-in and it appears and unknown offender had gained entry by smashing a window at the rear of the property.

"Money has been taken from the tills.

"No arrests have been made and our enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with any information should contact us on 101 quoting log number 0157 of September 19."
