The Seven Stars Inn in Penryn was officially reopened yesterday, (Monday September 21) at 12 noon, by Mayor of Penryn Charles 'Chaz' Wenmoth.

Locals queued in the streets to join in with the long-awaited reopening event and have a first drink at the popular pub, which has been closed since January 2018.

Due to reopen in May but postponed due to the coronavirus lockdown, the pub has had a complete refit, including seven Bed and Breakfast rooms, a refurbished beer garden and a microbrewery.

During the official reopening Chaz Wenmoth said: "I was the last person to have a pint in the old Seven Stars and now two years later I'm the first to have a pint as they reopen".

Assistant manager Lucy Collins said: "There was a queue in the street at 12pm and then the Mayor said a few words, it was really nice.

"We hope to offer something for everyone.

"The beer garden has all been redone outside and feels like a much bigger space. It's all been newly painted and paved and there's tables out there. It looks really nice.

"We're not currently brewing anything yet but we're going to have our own ales on draught and our own gin and vodka made.

"The microbrewery has glass doors so people will be able to look in from the beer garden when we start to brew beers. We may also introduce a brewery tour in the future so guests can learn how the beers we serve are made.

The Seven Stars Inn can be dated back with historical building records to 1540AD.

The pub will be selling owner Rolf Munding's own gin, Jüst Gin, which is distilled with dill and served with blueberries.
