A Pool Academy student has turned entrepreneur during lockdown after creating her own business.

Ruby Payne, who is in Year 8, started her own shop in March and six months later she is now boasting a record sale of 20 purchases in just 24 hours.

She created the shop online selling small animal toys and treats using natural items from her garden.

Ruby said: “My business is on the website called Etsy and my shop is called Bunny Biscuits Treats.

“I sell a lot of small animal toys and treats using only natural handpicked items from my garden. All packaging is eco-friendly. I have also hand-drawn my own logo.”

Items in her shop include hanging chew toys, mini apple dumbbells, customised pet rock paintings and more.

Ruby said: “I decided I would sell treats for people to purchase online.

“I did a lot of research on what rabbits and other small animals can eat, and toys that are safe for them. I realised I had a lot of it growing in my garden and decided to make the shop eco-friendly.

“I’m so excited how well it’s doing, it’s actually crazy and makes me feel great! I mean, people are interested in my shop!”

Claire Meakin, principal at Pool Academy, said: “Well done Ruby. I am so proud of you.”
