Four people in Porthleven are celebrating after winning £1,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode.

The Gibson Way neighbours netted the windfall when TR13 9AW was announced as a Daily Prize winner with People’s Postcode Lottery last Thursday.

Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson sent his well-wishes to the winners, saying: “I’m thrilled for our winners, what great news for them.

"I hope they enjoy their winnings and go treat themselves to something nice.”

It follows a win for a street in Helston last month and four neighbours in Breage in May.

The People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month and sees players sign up through their postcode.

There are daily £1,000 draws for every ticket in 20 postcode areas, as well as £30,000 draws on Saturdays and Sundays for every ticket in one winning postcode, a monthly draw for £3 million to be shared by winners in one winning postcode.

The more people with the same postcode who sign up, the more chance there is of winning.

A minimum of 32 per cent of ticket sales goes directly to charities, with players raising more than £500 million to date for thousands of good causes in Britain and beyond.

This draw was promoted by Girlguiding, which has received more than £5.2 million in funding from the players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Girlguiding has groups in every part of the UK, giving girls and young women somewhere they can be themselves, have fun, build friendships, gain valuable life skills and make a difference to their lives and their communities.

Many good causes close to the winners have also benefitted from players’ support, and local charities can next apply for funding in August.
