THE number of vehicles seized by Avon and Somerset Police officers has increased during lockdown.
The news comes despite there being less vehicles on the road.
Police say the reason for the rise could be that illegally driven vehicles stand out more - or it could be because officers have "more available time to go looking".
The force's road safety unit has revealed that 279 vehicles were seized last month for offences such as being uninsured.
It follows a 40 per cent rise in April, when 309 vehicles were seized.
A spokesman said: "So it went up in the lockdown.
"It may be that with less people on the road those driving unlawfully stood out.
"It may be that officers had more available time to go looking."
