Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is rumoured to be in talks about taking over Rick Stein's former restaurant in Porthleven - if you believe the national media.

A 'source' is said to have told the Sun's Bizarre TV column, and has been subsequently quoted in other national publications, that Mr Ramsay was "very interested" in taking over the restaurant adjacent to Porthleven's inner harbour, which it was revealed last week would not be reopening with the rest of Mr Stein's restaurants and cafes this weekend.

Mr Ramsay already owns a number of holiday homes in Cornwall, which he allegedly relocated to during lockdown.

It has also been stated that he and his family arrived before lockdown started on March 23.

The alleged source for Mr Ramsay said the chef, famous for his quick temper displayed on TV shows such as Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, where he attempts to turn around struggling businesses, felt the former seafood restaurant had "so much potential."

While it is said to be "not a done deal" there was a "good chance he’ll seal the agreement.”

The Packet has contacted the Gordon Ramsay Group for a statement over the accuracy of the reports.
