FAST food fans will be breathing a sigh of relief as restaurants across the county continue to re-open.

On Wednesday (June 24), the McDonald’s restaurant at Sedgemoor Services, on the M5 near Bridgwater, re-opened for walk-in takeaway, with new measures in place to help keep employees and customers safe.

The drive-thru at Hankridge, in Taunton, is also open.

Changes include limits on the number of people allowed in, customers being asked to sanitise their hands at cleaning stations and fewer self-order screens switched on.

Seating areas, customer toilets and lifts remain closed.

Perspex screens have also been installed in the kitchens, service areas and Drive-thru windows and additional protective equipment has been provided for restaurant teams, including disposable gloves for people in customer and courier facing positions and face coverings.

"As employees and the business adapt to a new way of working, McDonald’s would like to thank customers for their continued support and patience," said a spokesperson.

"Customers are reminded to adhere to the guidance from the government and health authorities, especially if queuing outside restaurants before there is space to enter."
