Disruption is likely on the A30 and around Truro this afternoon as the second of two large convoys arrives in the area escorted by police.

Earlier this week drivers heading to Cornwall were warned about two large convoys arriving on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Police are escorting vehicles transporting wind farm parts to Ventonteague, approximately one mile west of the A30 at Carland Cross.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police will be providing a full escort to the convoys and drivers can expect some disruption and possible delays during this time."

Full details of the journeys and timings are:

Tuesday, June 16

Three loads in convoy will be departing the M5 J30 at around 10am and expected to arrive at Ventonteague by 2pm.

They will travel down the M5 to J31 where they will join the A30 and travel Chiverton Cross. They will then turn back towards Carland Cross where they will enter the site.

The loads are five meters wide so caution should be taken when passing and there may be slight delays between the A30 at Carland Cross and A30 at Chiverton Cross in both directions as the vehicles enter the site.

Wednesday, June 17

Three loads in convoy will be departing the M5 J30 at around 10am and expected to arrive at Ventonteague by 3pm.

They will travel down the M5 to J31 where they will join the A30 and travel Chiverton Cross. They will then turn back towards Carland Cross where they will enter the site.

They will be carrying three 46 metre-long wind turbine blades in convoy and the convoy is expected to be around 200 metres long.

It is not a wide load so passing on dual carriageways will be permitted, but there may be slight delays between the A30 at Carland Cross and A30 at Chiverton Cross in both directions as the vehicles enter the site.
