A further day with no coronavirus-related deaths in Cornwall’s hospitals has been recorded.

Today’s figures from NHS England show that the confirmed overall number of hospital deaths involving a positive test for Covid-19 remains at 90, for the 11th day running.

Of these, 64 people lost their lives at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust and 26 at the Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The daily NHS updates only cover deaths in hospitals, however, and earlier this week the Office for National Statistics updated its totals – which cover hospitals, care homes and deaths in the community – to 198 for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Yesterday the Packet reported the figures broken down into specific towns and village groupings, showing where coronavirus-related deaths had been recorded.

They relate to deaths where coronavirus (Covid-19) was the underlying cause or was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory factor.

They only take in account deaths between March 1 and May 31 this year, which were registered up to and including June 6, and do not include deaths of non-residents.
