A woman and a baby have been taken to hospital this afternoon a crash near Portreath that left them trapped in their car.

A dog is also understood to have been in the car at the time of the collision just before 3pm today.

The woman was airlifted to Derriford Hospital serious injuries that have been described as "life changing".

The baby was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital by land ambulance as a precaution.

The fire service said crews from Tolvaddon were at the scene of the crash on the B3301, with a crew from Truro also called.

A spokesperson said an air ambulance was also called, along with police and the ambulance service.

The road is expected to remain closed for a while.
