THERE have been no further deaths in Cornwall's hospitals due to coronavirus in the latest figures released this afternoon.

NHS England's Friday data shows that the total in Cornwall remains at 88.

It has risen by two this week, since Tuesday, having been static at 86 since the previous Monday, May 18.

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust has seen 62 of the deaths, while 26 have taken place at hospitals run by Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

The figures only cover deaths in hospitals.

Office for National Statistics totals, which cover all settings, put Cornwall's overall number at 190 earlier this week.

Across England, a further 149 people who tested positive for Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 26,383.

Patients were aged between 35 and 101 years old. Of those, 11 - aged 70 and 95 - had no known underlying health condition, NHS England said.

Their families have been informed.

In the south west as a whole eight more deaths have been confirmed.

There have been 575 confirmed coronavirus cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to date.
