Tom Retchford, poet-in-residence at Falmouth Art Gallery, has been writing a collection of poems since mid-March that relate to the current events that we are experiencing because of coronavirus.

It is called Coronology, a play on words of 'chronology', as the poems are in order of the events that have been happening.

Tom explains: "This collection I have written is a way of helping people understand the impact that this disease has had on all of us.

"Because there is no doubt whatsoever this virus has affected every single person in the United Kingdom, amongst so many others around the globe.

"This is not centred to one person such as the reader, but to everyone and everything that is going on. I write for the art gallery and write poems every day about so much stuff.

"My dream is to be a published poet and to get this collection made into a book for people to keep and look back on, allowing them to remember, when we are all through this.

"What it was like not just for them, but for all of us.

"I hope you enjoy them and please leave any comments on the website.

"I hope that all of you continue to stay safe and well, with best wishes."

The latest poem in the series, entitled Paranoia and Fear, is below.

Upon every person in the street

You aim to keep from at least six feet

Shunning to sit on the same bench or seat

Paranoid and fear

Everywhere is sheer

Wide berths, steer clear

A person in front or close to you will cough

You instantly panic and run off

Lock yourself up in the loft

Overreaction?

Take all precaution

You can not be certain

Hand gels and soaps, are all sold out

Hygiene signs, now more obvious and screaming out

People's pockets full of tissues, thick and stout

Keep safe

Clean

And while you're at it green!

Am I getting a dry throat?

Do I feel breathless and my chest feels as if it's starting to bloat?

Are these the symptoms, am I on the float?

Fear of loved ones

Vulnerable ones

Elderly ones

Close proximity must be forbid

Someone looks queasy in front of you, skid

You or someone in your home has symptoms you must be hid

This is the news info

Trying desperately to show

What we should know

The fear is there it's in epic proportion

This virus has spread and killed many people across all oceans

It's not something you should ignore or shun

Self-isolate

Don't leave it too late

Don't wait

It's not worth the risk of anything that has the potential

To pass on the virus, by all costs, we must avoid it all
