The police helicopter and a search and rescue team were among those called out to look for a missing woman yesterday.

Coastguards, police and the RNLI were also involved in the hunt, after a woman was reported missing from the Botallack area of West Cornwall, near St Just.

A spokesperson for the West Cornwall Search and Rescue Team said: "Whilst following Mountain Rescue England and Wales guidelines on managing the Covid-19 risk, 17 team members searched field margins, whilst Lands End Coastguard Search & Rescue Team and St Ives Coastguard Rescue Team searched the coastal strip, Sennen Cove Lifeboat Station scoured the shoreline and National Police Air Service [helicopter] searched open areas from above.

"As the last of our foot teams were starting their search areas, intelligence came to light and sightings followed up, and the missing female was located safe and well outside of our core search areas."

Team members then stood down and returned to their families, but not before staff at National Trust Tin Coast offered free ice creams to help cool them down after their lunchtime search in the sun.
