TAUNTON'S footballers have 'braved the shave' to raise £1,400 for the National Health Service.
Several members of the Taunton Town squad, and their support staff, committed to a sponsored 'Shave or Grow' for the NHS, which has come under great pressure in the coronavirus crisis.
The fundraising page says: "With the 2019/20 season coming to an unexpected and abrupt end in this unprecedented time [and] with no 'End of Season Squad Tour' possible for the players, they have amazingly decided to donate their season's squad fines to the NHS.
"In addition, the Peacocks players and management team have pledged to either shave their heads or grow their hair (if shaving is not an option) in support of 'Love Musgrove' and specifically to assist the local Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton's efforts in fighting Covid-19."

So far £1,400 has been raised, passing the initial £1,000 target, and there is still time to donate here.
