ANOTHER patient in Somerset has died after testing positive for the coronavirus.

In today's list from the NHS (April 2), it has been confirmed that a patient within the Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust passed away on March 20.

The total number of deaths in England announced today is 561, bringing the country's total to 2,698.

Patients were aged between 22 and 100 years old. 44 of the patients, aged between 25 and 100, had no underlying health issues.

A Yeovil Hospital Foundation Trust spokesperson said:

“Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who had been cared for at Yeovil Hospital and who had tested positive for COVID-19, died at the hospital this week.

“The patient was a man in his eighties with underlying health conditions.

“His family have been informed and are following national guidance.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time. Out of respect for their privacy we will not be commenting further.”

Yesterday it was confirmed a further three people had died at Musgrove Park Hospital, following on from three deaths that were confirmed on Saturday, March 27.

Of the three new deaths at Musgrove, one was recorded on Saturday, March 28, and the other two were on Sunday, March 29.
