POLICE have told a person who drove to a site to exercise they should not have done so.
The person, who was returning to their car, was stopped by officers in the Wellington and handed a notice.
The notice said: "Why are you here today?
"The government restrictions currently in place DO NOT permit you to use your vehicle to travel to this location to exercise.
"Each and every one of us has been instructed to avoid ALL UNNECESSARY travel.
"You are entitled to exercise once daily.
"This should be by walking, running or cycling etc from your home address.
"You should not be driving to a location away from home to carry this out.
"Please refrain from unnecessary travel until restrcitions placed upon us all to tackle the coronavirus pandemic have been rescinded.
"We appreciate your co-operation and your understanding at this time."
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "We urge people to strictly follow government advice around essential travel and social distancing."
