A FAMILY orientated Taunton couple are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary.
Marlene, 82, and Lionel Whitefield, 81, marked 60 years of marriage on Wednesday, March 18.
The pair have enjoyed many happy memories together throughout their decades in the town.
While living in Trull, they managed Acorn Lodge, a guest house on Wellington Road, where they now live, before retiring.
They have a large family, with four children, nine grand children, and 11 great grandchildren - with one more on the way, as well as having fostered 25 children during their time together.
Mr Whitefield was also a keen participant in the 'river struggle' from Wellington.
But what is their secret to a long and happy marriage? Well, it's simple, really.
"It's give and take," Marlene said.
"Being easy going.
"We never row, we are just happy together."
The family are extremely close, and they have a lot of family parties together.
But Marlene doesn't like to be the centre of attention, so there isn't a family party planned.
Instead, the women of the family intend to take Marlene out on a 'party bus' for a belated hen party.
