GET a Spring in your step by taking part in a fun run in the stunning surrounds of Hestercombe woodland later this month.

The Hestercombe Woodland Wander and Doggy Dash includes a 5K and 2K fun run, and will be taking place on Sunday, March 15.

The popular annual event is expected to attract hundreds of runners and their dogs keen to get out and enjoy the great outdoors in one of the South West’s most beautiful locations.

Participants and their four legged friends can either run or walk the 5k route or take part in the 2km fun run.

Handcrafted wooden medals await all runners who cross the finish line and all participating dogs will receive a free gift plus a goody bag, donated by Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre.

The Taunton Chiropractor Neck and Back Pain Clinic will be offering free sports massages to walkers and runners.

The 2k fun run is aimed at children and families and those who prefer a slower pace or wish to walk and take in the woodland and lake views.

Event organiser Emma Warr said: “The Hestercombe Woodland Wander combines fun, fitness and the great outdoors which offers a perfect family morning out in an iconic Somerset setting:

“1610 aims to inspire local families to get fit and have some fun and where better to do that by exploring one of Somerset’s most famous landmarks.”

The Cafe at Hestercombe Gardens will be open from 9am selling cakes and hot drinks.

There is free car parking available and registration opens at 8.30am and the race starts at 9.30am. As both runs are cross country sturdy trainers are recommended.
