EXMOOR Food Festival 2020 ended with two successful events at the end of last month.

The Anchor Inn, Hillfarrance, welcomed guests to their ‘Best of Game’ night last Thursday (February 27), which included a three-course menu of local game dishes as well as local beverages including ales, ciders and gins.

Laura Magee, one of the owners of The Anchor Inn, said: “This was a real team effort putting Best of Game night together and we’ve really enjoyed it.

“It is a pleasure to showcase game - something Exmoor is so famous for. The menu was just mouth-watering to read and we had so many wonderful comments about the dishes and the atmosphere from our guests on the night.”

There was also a Taste Exmoor Food & Drink Fair at the Porlock Village Hall from February 29 until March 1.

Hundreds of visitors braved the weather to sample and buy handcrafted gin and cider, locally reared meat, homemade jams, chutneys as well as cakes and fudge. It was a busy weekend, which followed four weeks where thousands of locals and visitors took advantage of the Exmoor Food Fest offers in restaurants across Exmoor.

Organisers of the Exmoor Food Fest, Exmoor Events Company, are planning a three-day-food festival which will take place in Porlock Vale on the National Trust’s Holnicote Estate in the summer.

Chefs will be doing cooking demonstrations, and street food and local produce will be available to sample and take home.
